In this series, GM Mauricio Flores provides an in-depth look of the most common structures in the Kings Indian Defense. Based on carefully selected example games, he explains the main plans and ideas of the three different types of structures in the KID and shows strategic patterns which often appear in those structures. In addition, he will focus on typical mistakes and traps and explains how to avoid them.

In the second video of the series, GM Mauricio Flores shows typical plans for black in this Type I Kings Indian structure and how black can fight back. Even if this pawn structure tends to be a little more favourable for white, the key for black to be successful is to decide in which situations it would be good to trade on d5.

Recap: In the first video, he is going to discuss the King's Indian Defense structure with black’s move c7-c6. This structure is named as the Type I structure. You will learn how to play the KID Type I Structure by knowing the major plans and ideas from white’s perspective. White is fighting for the c-file and white is more likely to win just because of the space advantage. White has a very substantial space advantage and it’s hard for black to fight back.

GM Mauricio Flores is the author of the well recognized book "Chess Structures: A Grandmaster Guide". Link: www.amazon.com/Chess-Structures-Mauricio-Flores-Rios/dp/1784830003
