Basic Checkmate Patterns 2 of 3 - Beginner to Chess Master #25
This is video #25 from the "Beginner to Chess Master" playlist. 9 basic checkmate patterns are illustrated via 24 examples. Are you familiar with the Double Bishop Mate, Boden's Mate, Balestra Mate, Arabian Mate, Corner Mate, Morphy's Mate, Pillsbury's Mate, Damiano's Mate, and Lolli's Mate? Don't worry if you haven't heard of these names. The names are not nearly as important as simply becoming familiar with what the patterns look like on board! This is a 2nd group of basic checkmate patterns, and in general it's a beginning stage to help develop our pattern recognition in the game. A term that is defined in this video is "overloaded".
The illustrated examples are from http://lichess.org/practice
