In this video, GM Alex Lenderman gives you an introduction to the topic of Isolated Pawns. An Isolated Pawn is a pawn that’s not protected by a neighbouring pawn, which means that potentially the Isolated Pawn can be a little weak because it can be attacked by the opponent’s pieces but it cannot be protected by pieces and not by pawns. The Isolated Pawn can be also a strength as the side with the Isolated Pawn has a space advantage and he has a chance of getting very good initiative and a good attack potentially.
