In this video from the DVD “Middlegame Pawn Structures” by GM Ivan Sokolov, we are shown a position that occurred in a game between two grandmasters.

The position came from a Queen’s Gambit Declined opening where White has some queenside pressure. Black made a move that attempted to counter White’s queenside play and Ivan explains the three different options that White has in the position and why one of them is better than the others.

Throughout the video, Ivan explains many different positions that happen later in the game, and all of his explanations are very in-depth, helping the viewer to really appreciate all of the intricacies of the position.

What can we learn from the explanations that Ivan shares with us? How can we understand the details of the positions and thinking behind the grandmasters’ moves? Watch the video to find out!
