This is a game played between two chess engines, namely Komodo 7x and Stockfish 170514 from the TCEC Season 6 Superfinal 2014 - Thoresen Chess Engines Competition. The opening played between these two chess programs was the King's Indian defense, Sämisch with 5...Nc6. It was played with standard time controls 120 minutes with a 30 second increment. By move 8, the battle lines are drawn with each castled on opposite wings. As a result, dynamic play ensues with material often times taking a back seat when compared to initiative, mobilization of pieces, and time. Stockfish employs the typical a6, Rb8 and b5 push to open queenside lines against Komodo 7x's king. What I found of particular interest was the move sequence where Stockfish broke down white's d4 strongpoint by striking with e5 and immediately following with a kingside knight transfer to c5. The move e5 utimately brought both of Stockfish's kingside minor pieces to life against a white side holding tight to its only trump, material.
